St. Louis County Requires Face Masks in Public

St. Louis County Department of Public Health
2019 Novel Coronavirus (“COVID-19”)
Order Requiring Members of the Public and Employees
to Wear Face Coverings

This Order is signed July 1, 2020, shall become effective on July 3, 2020, and shall remain in effect until rescinded or amended, which shall occur at the earliest possible date as is appropriate based upon data regarding COVID-19 transmission rates and the protection of public health.

As St. Louis County eases restrictions on capacity limitations and gatherings, people will be increasingly interacting in person, creating a risk for increased viral transmission. The CDC continues to study the spread of COVID-19 and has determined that COVID-19 can be spread by those who are asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic. This means that the virus can spread between people interacting in close proximity even if those people are not exhibiting symptoms. Substantial scientific evidence shows that one of the most effective protections to decrease the transmission of COVID-19 as people interact is to increase the use of Face Coverings.. Accordingly, this Order requires people to wear Face Coverings when outside of their homes and in any Business or Public Accommodation.
