To kick off the new year, Animeggroll always likes to do a build competition that has a different flare than our regular competitions. As such, we are looking forward to using non-Bandai model kits for the first time ever! Similar to Bandai kits, this Kotobukiya kit is still snap fit and made with color injected plastics, so no glue or paint is required to straight build.
Like past competitions, all competitors will receive the same model kit, Maruttoys Tamotu: Moderhythm Collaboration (Light Blue Ver.) and have 4 hours to build and customize their model. Yet, unlike most competitions there will be no judges and the winners of this competition will be voted on by the competitors. Builders are free to build the model however they like; some people incorporate the model into a diorama, some will just do a custom build and paint of the kit and others will just do the cleanest build that they can.
Rules:
Each competitor will be provided with a working space of 1.5 X 3 feet. Anything being used in the build must fit in that space at the start of the competition. No spray, aerosol, or air brush painting is allowed. The model kit provided must be assembled at the competition and should be the focal point of your finished display. Any diorama pieces or external kit accessories can be preassembled before the competition.
Starting at 1:00 PM, builders will have 4 full hours to work. No modifications can be made to a builders kits after the 4 hours have elapsed. Once the 4 hours is up, builders will then have 5 minutes to stage their display. The staging process allows the builder to position their work and remove anything not part of their final display off their work area. Judges may factor anything remining in the work space into their judgments.
For the New Years competition, builders will be given ballot cards. Once judging has began, each builder will select their 3 favorite entries and submit their ballot. The three entries that receive the most votes will win a prize.
After the competition is over competitors own the kit and are free to take it home. However, if they like they can leave their finished work to be displayed at the store until the next competition or whenever they wish to pick it up.
A photographer will be taking pictures of the event and of the model kits. Please lets us know ahead of time if you wish not to be photographed.
